What is the conceptualizing process and how will you do it?

  1. It´s a process to take your teaching content to a higher level. My x (content) is a study in y (concept). To connect to the bigger picture, to help the students to connect from to your theme from a broader context.

I was really helped by the question: What is this a study in? And I will use the helpful questions in "Concept-Finding worksheet (page 79) in the book "Teaching around..."

Really good questions for pre-thinking, which for me opened up even more essential parts in my presentation (Q2).

It also gave me guidance in getting arguments for towards driven motivation ("Does it have potential for creating meaning in students life?") and away-from driven motivation ("What would happen if it didn´t exist?").

    1. Yes, those questions really lead the way. When you lead students to consider the context in which they will use the learning, you bring real-world meaning to the content, a great help to act as a springboard for action.

  2. The conceptulizing process is the process to discover the overarching theme of the content you want the learners to take away from your lesson. It's the idea that will connect them to your lesson plan and allow them to take an experience that is not involved in the lesson and to understand how it applies to the lesson being taugth.

I will use the Concept Finding Worksheet on Pg 79. to help discover the concept. However, I beleive I already knew the concept based on a deep understanding of the material I will be presenting.
